Bill Parr November 25th, 1953 - November 26th, 2004 "Do not mourn my death, celebrate my life I have enjoyed mine beyond my wildest dreams continue where I have ended - William H. Parr |
| Our good friend Bill Parr passed away on Friday, November 26 after a battle with Cancer.
I got to visit with him at Homestead and he was his usual self, dedicated to his job and the racers he presided over the last few years. From Florida CCS to the AMA Superbike Series, Bill was a presence in the garages and on the grid. We both knew he was near the end and when I kissed him on the head (one from PJ) he laughed. Said "people will talk." Sadly, Homestead would be his last event. He suffered a setback while working that weekend but bounced back a few times just to let us know that he was going down fighting. I'm going to miss him but he's not suffering and he's up there with some of the finest kids and racers I've ever known. They won't be sneakin anything by Bill in the tech garage. He'll just give them the eye and let them know that changes are necessary.... or else! So long my friend, Smokin' Joe I'd like everyone who kew Bill to send me your thoughts.

| Hey, Joe,
Sorry about Bill, we all knew it was coming but that doesn't make it any easier. He was a good guy. Pat Weekley |

| Smokin' Joe, Thanks for posting the wonderful tribute to Bill. Bill became as much a part of VIR as any of our regulars. When he, Gary and Ritchie first showed up at the track, they were quickly dubbed "The Florida Boys" and were always enjoyed whenever they were up this way. Fortunately, I was able to go down to visit Bill the Monday before his passing. The old Bill was still in there, shining through the pain. He, like so many others, will always be a memory that produces a smile. Lee Brantley |

| Joe It is with great sadness that I learn about Bill's passing. He was always a great encouragement to me and I am sure many others. He enjoyed seeing my Ducati pass an SV650. Of course he always would kid me about what I might have done to the motor. I can hear him now, "Are you sure you have the stock throttle bodies in there." He had a quiet way about him and would give you that look like 'just make sure everything is legal' without saying it. You got his point. I didn't realize that he was only 12 days younger than me. Makes me realize how mortal we are. I am thankful that he is no longer suffering and for the memories that I will have for years to come. |
